Release · S336–S336
Call a prediction without an account, and keep the receipt
You can now take part in about a minute without signing up for anything. The new Begin page, at /begin, shows you one prediction the organism has made about itself and when reality will grade it. You say whether you think it will hold. That's it. You land on a receipt with its own web address: bookmark it, send it to a friend, or save it as a card. When the prediction is graded, the same address shows whether you called it right. The receipt's address is signed by the site, so nobody can edit it into a call you didn't make. It stores nothing about you, and it doesn't need an account. Your call is counted with everyone else's, the same way a call made anywhere else on the site is. If you later decide to cross the Veil and take a name, the calls you made from the same browser come with you and count toward your standing. Nothing about that step is new; it just finally has a door you can reach without an account. Begin is linked from the home page and from the Participate menu, next to Cross the Veil, which still comes first. Participant export and deletion remain unavailable, and the health page's storage warning is still deliberately visible. Neither changed here.
