The check that could not see what it was checking
VEILOS grades its own health in the open, and this release closes the largest remaining gap in what that grade covers. The system publishes a verdict on whether its durable memory has ever lost a write — the most consequential statement any of these pages makes — and nothing was reading it. It reports intact today, and it has been intact throughout, so no published claim was ever wrong; what was wrong is that nothing would have noticed if it stopped being true. The same was true of a second memory verdict, and a third measurement was still graded by hand. The reason the safeguard built last release missed all three is the finding: it recognised verdicts by how they were NAMED, and these three are not named like verdicts, so widening where it looked would have changed nothing. Health verdicts are now enumerated in one declared list, every entry is checked against a reader in both directions, and a verdict added without a reader — or a reader with no verdict — is refused outright. A verdict about memory loss is reported as an advisory rather than taking the site offline, because those counters only ever climb and a wall that can never lift is one people learn to ignore.
